Komnas Perempuan: Almost Two Years Novia Widyasari Experienced Repeated Violence

JAKARTA - Komnas Perempuan Commissioner Siti Aminah Tardi said, Novia Widyasari, a woman who committed suicide beside her father's grave because she was suspected of being a victim of sexual harassment by police officers, had reported the case to her side.

"So it is true that the deceased submitted her complaint at midnight in August through an online complaint," said Siti Aminah to reporters, Monday, December 6.

However, said Siti, the complaint made by the victim, who is still a student, is not complete. Basically, in the report, the victim stated that she had experienced violence that was allegedly committed by her boyfriend.

"Essentially, he experienced dating violence, which after going through the communication process, we received information that the victim experienced repeated and repeated violence. It has been almost two years since 2019 or since building a dating relationship with the perpetrator," said Siti.

Receiving this report, said Siti, her party had difficulty contacting the victim. This is because the victim did not respond to short messages and phone calls from the victim.

"Then we were able to communicate by telephone in November and indeed he conveyed the need for psychological counseling and mediation with his girlfriend's parents," said Siti.

In the communication, said Siti, the victim recounted the violence experienced. In addition to communication, the victim also sent a letter of complaint to Komnas Perempuan asking for counseling assistance.

"Based on the victim's need for psychological and mediation, Komnas Perempuan referred the victim to get services to P2TP2A (Integrated Service Center for the Empowerment of Women and Children) Mojokerto," said Siti.

"P2TP2A Mojokert has done counseling for two sessions in November until then when the next session will be held the victim has died," said Siti.
