JAKARTA - South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Azis Andriansyah said there were eight additional witnesses to the Cyber I Mampang building fire, South Jakarta. Initially there were four people, now there are twelve witnesses.
"While several witnesses are still being examined, there are 12 people. Previously there were four. The results of the forensic laboratory have not been released," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Azis Andriansyah at the South Jakarta Police Headquarters, Monday 6 December.
However, Azis did not explain the background of the witnesses being questioned.
"There is no suspect yet, even we must still be in the process of finding the cause. So friends from the Forensic Laboratory need a few days to check," he said.
Therefore, he emphasized, his party could not confirm whether the incident that caused the two people's death was intentional or not.
"We have not been able to direct whether this is part of an accident, negligence, negligence or intentional, we cannot lead it there because we still need to examine other evidence," said Azis.
The Cyber I building caught fire starting from a spark in the server room on the second floor on Thursday, December 3 at around 12.00 WIB.
The spark created a puff of smoke, causing panic among employees in the building. Officers arrived at the location at around 12.41 WIB and immediately extinguished the source of the fire on the second floor.
Officers also evacuated three victims who were trapped on the second floor of the building. One victim with the initials SF died on the spot, while MRK was unconscious.
However, when he was treated at the hospital, MRK's life could not be saved.
"The 18-year-old died at the scene, the other died when he was taken to the Mampang Regional Hospital," said Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkamat) Service, Mulat Wijayanto.
