Jayawijaya Police Arrest Three Local Oplosan Liquor Manufacturers
WAMENA - Jayawijaya, Papua Resort Police (Polres) personnel arrested three producers of adulterated liquor in the Kurulu District.
Jayawijaya Police Chief AKBP Muh Safei said the three people were arrested while packing mixed liquor for sale to the downtown Jayawijaya Regency.
"When members passed by in Kurulu they smelled alcoholic beverages and after checking it was true that there was production, three people were arrested," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 6.
The police also secured evidence at the location, such as 4 32-axis stoves, four large pots, three drums, one bucket and three gallons of 106 liters of adulterated liquor ready to be circulated.
"We immediately disposed of evidence of drinks at the location and only brought samples and equipment used," he said.
Police will continue to carry out early detection to uncover makers and sellers of mixed liquor so that Jayawijaya is not crowded with drunk people ahead of Christmas and New Year.
"Every night before the implementation of today's religious day, we are careful not to let people get contaminated with drinks, even though it is supposed to be a religious activity that is not disturbed by drunk people," he said.
The police continue to expect public participation to report the place where the liquor is produced because it is still being found.
