Bobby Nasution Upset By Medan Angkot Driver Who Drinks Tuak Breaks Railroad Barrier To Kill 4 People
MEDAN - Police have determined that an angkot driver with the initials HM (43) has become a suspect in a fatal accident at a railroad crossing on Jalan Sekip, Medan City. Four passengers died when an angkot that broke through the door was hit by a train.
It was revealed that the HM angkot driver had consumed liquor or palm wine before driving the angkot. Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution regretted this incident.
"We saw yesterday basically why, if you say there are no signs, the signs are clear. There is a doorstop, the others stop, he takes from the opposite side. This is the fault of the human (driver)," said Bobby Nasution when met, Monday, December 6th.
Moreover, he said, the angkot driver was driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
"It has been tested positive (drugs). This is the human resource, then the public transport organization, we need to emphasize this," continued Bobby Nasution.
The Medan City Government, called Bobby Nasution, will involve transportation organizations to prevent drug use among drivers.
"Yesterday, we discussed the implementation of health procedures, vaccinations, we always involve them. In the future, how drug use should not happen again, especially regarding the safety of many people," said Bobby Nasution.
For information, the police have named HM, the Angkot driver who killed 4 passengers when he was hit by a train on Jalan Sekip, Petisah Village, Saturday, December 4, as a suspect.
He was named a suspect for his negligence in driving. In addition, HM also tested positive for using drugs.
Medan Police Chief Kombes Riko Sunarko said the suspect HM when examined by investigators was positive for using methamphetamine.
"While at the base, the person concerned admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages or palm wine with his fellow drivers and then driving the angkot," said Kombes Riko, Monday, December 6.
Kombes Riko said the suspect HM when examined by investigators admitted that he was positive for using methamphetamine drugs. The results of HM's urine test also stated that it was positive for methamphetamine.
"The person concerned (the suspect) also admitted that he had been using drugs for the past 3 years, especially the type of crystal methamphetamine, and that the urine test result in question was positive for methamphetamine," he explained.
Riko said that HM, who is a resident of Batangkuis, Tanjung Morawa, was charged with Article 310 paragraph (4) and Article 331 paragraph (5) of Law Number 22 Year 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation.
"The threat of a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison. From the initial examination, the person concerned has become an angkot driver, but does not have a driving license (SIM)," he explained.
It is known that the angkot driven by HM broke through the railroad crossing gate on Jalan Sekip, Sei Agul District, Medan City on Saturday afternoon. At the same time, the train bound for Binjai-Medan was passing and directly hit the angkot carrying 8 passengers.
The angkot was dragged several meters and made it badly damaged. In that incident 4 people died and several others were seriously injured.
The angkot driver with the initials HM managed to save himself. Even HM had tried to run away so that he became the target of the masses.
