Hot Clouds Eruption Semeru Caused 15 Residents Died, 27 People Still Missing

JAKARTA - The Command Post (Posko) for Emergency Response to Mount Semeru Hot Clouds and Falls in Lumajang Regency, East Java reported that 15 residents died due to the brunt of Mount Semeru hot clouds (APG).

"From the number of those who died, as many as 8 people were identified in Pronojiwo District, while 7 others were in Candipuro District," said Acting Head of the Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Abdul Muhari in a statement in Jakarta, Antara. , Monday, December 6th.

Abdul said the post also reported the number of residents who were still missing as many as 27 people. Until this news was published, checking and validating the data continued to be carried out to ensure the victim's status.

"Until the third day, the command post will continue to carry out search and rescue operations for residents who may be victims of the hot clouds from Mount Semeru which erupted in," said Abdul.

The total data on casualties or affected that have been collected by the Command Post are 5,205 people affected, 27 people missing, and 15 deaths. The Command Post is still updating the data on affected residents.

Meanwhile, the number of displaced residents amounted to 1,707 people spread over 19 points. The Command Post informed the distribution of survivors as follows, Pronojiwo District has 9 refugee posts.

The refugee posts are located at Supiturang 04 State Elementary School (SDN), Supiturang Hamlet Baitul Jadid Mosque, Oro Oro Ombo 3 Elementary School, Oro Oro Ombo 2 Elementary School, Hamlet Settlement Mosque, Kampung Renteng (Oro Ombo Village), Oro Oro Ombo Village Hall, Balai Sumberurip Village, SDN Sumberurip 2 as well as several relatives' houses around the hamlets of Kampung Renteng and Sumberbulus hamlets in Oro Oro Ombo Village.

The distribution of refugee posts in Candiro District is at six evacuation points, including the Sumberwuluh Village Hall, Penanggal Village Hall, Sumbermujur Village Hall, Renteng Village (Sourcewuluh Village), Kajarkuning Hamlet (Sourwuluh Village), Candipuro Sub-District Office.

The distribution of refugee posts in Pasirian District is four points, namely Condro Village Hall, Pasirian Village Hall, Baiturahman Pasirian Mosque and Nurul Huda Alon Pasirian Mosque.

In addition to having an impact on casualties, hot clouds from avalanches also damage the residential sector and infrastructure in several sub-districts in Lumajang Regency.
