Reward Gratification Reports To Individuals, KPK: If To Institutions/Ministries It Often Ends OTT

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) gave awards to a number of gratuities reporting. Different from the previous year, this year's gift to celebrate World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) is for individuals, not ministries/agencies.

KPK Deputy Prevention Pahala Nainggolan said that giving to individuals was done because of their previous experience, they often arrested perpetrators of corruption from ministries/institutions that had received awards.

"We feel the need this year to give awards only to individuals. Because of previous experience, if we give it to large institutions, both government, regional governments, ministries and institutions, the fact is that some of them even get OTT," said Pahala when delivering his remarks at the 2021 Gratification Control Award event. which aired on the KPK RI YouTube, Monday, December 6.

Not only that, he also saw conditions on the ground where gratification reporting awards were given to institutions/ministries but receipts still occurred and were not reported. This is what makes the KPK reluctant to give awards to ministries and institutions.

"People don't believe that what KPK has given awards is indeed a good institution. Then we give awards but in the field there are still gratuities and they are not reported. We have lost our credibility," he said.

Still in the same event, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata said that refusing and reporting gratification was indeed a difficult thing to do. In fact, receiving this gratuity can lead to a criminal act if it is not reported for 30 working days according to Article 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law.

"It's not easy to refuse gratification. We are well aware. Moreover, gratification is (given, red) if it is hidden and then pocketed, it is finished," he said.

The recipients of the 2021 Inspiration Gratification Reporting Category Award are the Village Head of Sungup Kanan, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Aisyah; Honorary Administrative Staff of SD Panunggangan 4 Cibodas, Khaerulah; and Staff of the Pakuniran District Office, Probolinggo, East Java, Rifqi Abdillah; Immigration Technical Staff seconded to the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Anggi Wicaksono.

Furthermore, there are civil servants at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Heriyanto and the President Director of PD Pasar Jaya DKI Jakarta, Arief Nasrudin. Actually there is one more award winner but he did not want to be named.

"There is one person who does not want to be named. This is the reporter as the general function of agency X. The name has been changed at the request of the reporter who was unable to attend," said Alexander.

"Turns out it's not easy. Doing good is also worrying, because yes, there are risks, for example, if in one team there is one person who receives it and reports it, the others will definitely accept it. Where is the other question? Right, why not report it? When it will be clarified later, if those who report are caught, they will be hated by the environment," he added.

With these various risks, Alexander then gave appreciation for those who dared to report receiving gratuities. He hopes that this individual can be a role model for the environment.

"Everyone has taken the risk earlier, that means yes, they are brave enough to be an inspiration to other colleagues. I think that is an extraordinary thing," he concluded.
