There Are Allegations That Novia Widyasari's Report Was Ignored By Propam, Commission III Asks The National Police Chief To Investigate His Subordinates

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Ahmad Sahroni, appreciates the rapid steps taken by the National Police in taking action to arrest the perpetrators and identify the suspect Bripda Randy Bagus Hari Sasongko, who is suspected of raping and ordering the abortion of Universitas Brawijaya student Novia Widyasari Rahayu who later committed suicide.

"Of course the police in this case have been quick in taking action and arresting RB and establishing him as a suspect. The National Police Chief has also intervened directly and has stated that his institution will continue to investigate this case, so this is certainly a quick and decisive step from the police," said Sahroni in his statement in Jakarta, Monday, December 6.

He said that the National Police must continue to investigate other alleged criminal acts committed by RB against his ex-lover.

According to him, this is because there are indications of coercion and rape by the suspect against the victim, collecting related evidence, and asking the perspective of the victim's family, who of course understand very well their condition.

"Even though I have been named a suspect for abortion, I still ask the police to continue the investigation, don't stop here. It must also be investigated, continue to collect related evidence, and also ask for the perspective of the victim's family, who of course understand very well their condition and the various digital writings of the victim that have been circulating," he said as quoted by Antara.

In addition, Sahroni also highlighted the reports of victims who were allegedly ignored by the Professional and Security Division (Divpropam). According to him, it is very dangerous if the public's reports are ignored by Propam so that the police must check who the officers receive the victim's report but are ignored.

"Look at who is in charge and it must be opened up openly. So I think the parties involved are not only the perpetrators but there has been systematic neglect," he said.

Quoted from the official Instagram of the Police Public Relations Division, it is known from the results of police investigations, Bripda Randy Bagus and Novia Widyasari have been acquainted since October 2019. The two are dating, then have a relationship like husband and wife which will last from 2020 to 2021.

The National Police found evidence that the victim during her relationship with Bripda Randy Bagus from October 2019 to December 2021 had two abortions in March 2020 and August 2021.

For the actions of Bripda Randy Bagus, internally he violated the Perkap Law Number 14 of 2011 concerning the Code of Ethics and was charged with Article 7 and Article 11. Externally, he was charged with Article 348 Juncto 55 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of five years in prison.
