Police Confiscate 254 Kg Of Dried Marijuana From 5 Perpetrators Of Marijuana Smuggling Across Sumatra
JAKARTA - A total of 254 kilograms of dried marijuana ready to be distributed packaged in 12 sacks failed to be smuggled by drug cartels across the Java-Sumatra island network ahead of the 2022 new year to Jakarta.
From the arrests, the West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit managed to apprehend five suspects with the initials S (45), N (31), SP (56), M (56) and K (51).
The dried marijuana is wrapped in brown paper and duct tape with a shape resembling a brick. Per packaging of dried marijuana has an average weight of 1 kilogram.
The disclosure of 254 kilograms of marijuana is the result of the development of previous arrests.
"If it is calculated from the previous arrests, there are around 534 kilograms or half a ton of dried marijuana ready for distribution," said Head of the Public Relations Section of the West Jakarta Metro Police AKP Moch Taufik Iksan when confirmed by VOI, Sunday, December 5.
From the results of urine tests on five suspects, two of them with the initials S (45) and N (31) were positive for methamphetamine and marijuana. While SP (56), M (56) and K (51) were negative.
"The roles of the five suspects are different. Two are in charge as well as drug dealers and the other three are porters carrying goods from the fields to the collector's place in Mandailing Natal," he said.

"At this location, they managed to secure as many as 12 large sacks of narcotics containing dry marijuana ready to be sent to Java with a total gross of 254,545 grams or 254 kilograms of marijuana ready to be distributed," he said.
In order to be held accountable for their actions, the five suspects were charged with Article 114 Paragraph (2) Sub-Article 111 Paragraph (2) Junto Article 132 of Law No. RI. 35 of 2009, concerning Narcotics with a maximum threat of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of 10 billion.
