WTF 2021, Greysia/Apriyani Pair Did Not Expect To Lose, Indonesia's Only Hope Is The Minion

JAKARTA - Indonesia's women's doubles effort to be in the final round of the 2021 World Tour Finals (WTF) tournament had to fail. Because the long struggle of Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu was broken by Japan's representatives, Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida.

Meeting in the semifinals which took place at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua, Greysia/Apriyani's efforts ran aground in 76 minutes. "We still don't think we can lose. Because we have performed as much as we can. But this is the reality. We have to accept it and become an evaluation with the coach for the future," Greysia said in a statement received by VOI on Saturday, 4 December.

Regarding the course of the match, Greysia/Apriyani said the performance and consistency shown by the Sakura country duo was very good. In addition, physical and mental unyielding become one of Matsuyama/Shida's strengths.

"Our consistency is lacking. For this reason, we immediately make physical and mental improvements and consistency in the light needs to be improved," said Greysia.

"They made mistakes and were under pressure. We can't stand the pressure," Apriyani added.

With the loss of Greysia/Apriyani by Japanese representatives in the semifinals, it means that Indonesia only has a single representative. The representative came from the men's doubles sector filled with Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.

The Minions will have their semifinal match on Saturday, December 4 starting at 17.00 western Indonesia time. They will face Taiwan representatives, Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin.
