Cyber 1 Building Fires, Apparently DKI Still Lacks 148 Fire Posts
JAKARTA - Member of Commission A of the DKI DPRD, William Aditya Sarana, highlighted the lack of number of firefighting posts after the fire incident in the Cyber 1 building.
William said that currently Jakarta still lacks 148 fire stations. In fact, based on Article 33 of the Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2008 concerning Fire Prevention and Management, every kelurahan must have a fire brigade post.
"In the discussion of the 2022 APBD yesterday, I encouraged us to prioritize the budget for fire posts first. Currently, Jakarta still lacks 148 sub-district fire posts, 27 of which are fire-prone villages," William said in his statement, Friday, November 3.
Therefore, William asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to immediately map out the locations of social facilities that could be used as fire posts in each kelurahan and execute their construction.
He said that the fire in the Cyber building, South Jakarta, which claimed 2 lives, should be a moment of evaluation of the priority for handling fires in DKI Jakarta.
"We see the situation that DKI Jakarta is very prone to fires and that there are still many facilities near fire-prone environments such as fire stations, independent hydrants and firefighters that still need to be fulfilled," he said.
For information, the fire that occurred in the Cyber 1 Building on Jalan Kuningan Barat Raya, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon occurred at 12:43 WIB on the second floor of the building.
This fire resulted in 2 fatalities, namely Seto (18) and Redzuan (17). They were technicians who were visiting Cyber 1 building. The cause of death was not due to burns from the fire, but from inhaling too much hot smoke in the room.
This fire has disrupted a number of internet-based service providers. In fact, it is reported that some applications and web hosting services have experienced disruptions to the point that they cannot operate normally. It is not known exactly how much damage caused by the disturbance caused by this fire.
