Rambah Metaverse, Adidas Collaborate With Project NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club
JAKARTA – In the midst of the boom in NFT and the metaverse, Adidas does not want to be silent about the rapid development of blockchain technology. The multinational company from Germany plans to enter the metaverse realm.
To realize this effort, Adidas collaborated with the NFT Bored Ape Yacht, Gmoney, and Punks Comic projects.
“Today we jumped into the Metaverse with [Bored Ape Yacht Club], [Gmoney] & [Punks Comic]. It's time to enter a world of endless possibilities," Adidas wrote in a tweet on Thursday 2 December.
The Twitter post received more than 8,000 likes and was retweeted more than 4,000 times. The tweet also leads to a web portal called Adidas Metaverse which says:
"Ongoing. Gmoney, Punks Comic, and Bored Ape Yacht Club lead Adidas to the Metaverse. Let's go."
Reported by Bitcoin.com News, Adidas has also updated its Twitter profile picture with an image of BAYC. Adidas purchased Bored Ape Yacht Club #8,774 which was last sold for 46 ether or 156,000 US dollars at settlement. BAYC has heart-shaped sunglasses, gold hoops for earrings, a “bored” look, fisherman's hat, and blue feathers. In a recent Adidas tweet, the company had BAYC sporting a yellow Adidas jacket with a classic three-stripe design.
Addresses that buy BAYC store 13 different NFTs from 11 unique collections according to dappradar.com statistics. If Adidas is the owner of this wallet, the company also owns Punks Comic: “The Hunt for the Lost Robbies” which was purchased for 6.95 ether. Comic Punks and BAYC #8,774, just purchased is the most expensive NFT on the wallet. Other NFTs held in wallets that hold BAYC #8,774, have a base value of between 17 dollars and 549 US dollars per NFT.

It has not been revealed when the combined NFT of BAYC and Adidas will be issued and released to the public. During last week's reveal, Adidas detailed that they are partnering with crypto exchange giant Coinbase, Adidas also explained that the company is working with The Sandbox. Full details of the The Sandbox collaboration have yet to be revealed.
On the other hand, Adidas rivals Nike announced that they have “Nikeland” in the Roblox metaverse. It seems that Nike is not kidding and is trying to focus on the metaverse realm. Nikeland is intended to be “a place where competition and creativity abound for all.”
Seeing the entry of large companies into the realm of NFT and the metaverse has prompted many parties to compete to buy property in the virtual world which has great potential for the development of games, NFT, and crypto in the future.
