Maintain Indonesian Maritime Security, TNI AL Base In Selayar Will Be Built

MAKASSAR - The Regent of Selayar Islands, Basli Ali, directly handed over the land certificate to the Commander of the TNI AL VI/Makassar Main Base, TNI First Admiral Benny Sukandari, for further preparations for the construction of the VI/Makassar TNI AL Base Command Headquarters.

Sukandari said that the land for the construction of military installations in the Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi, was officially certified.

"The location where the command headquarters will be built already has a certificate and the certificate was submitted directly by the regent, then we will process it because it already has legality," he said, Friday, December 3.

The handover of the land certificate was carried out at the TNI AL VI/Makassar Main Base Command Headquarters, witnessed by the Logistics Assistant to the Navy Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral TNI Puguh Santoso, and the Indonesian Navy Headquarters Logistics Safari team.

The handover procession began with the signing of the certificate and the handover of the Selayar Navy Base development planning book from Sukandari to Santoso and Ali as well as the giving of placards. Sukandari in his speech said that the handover of the land certificate was to provide legal certainty for state land which would later be managed by the Navy for development. Selayar Navy Base.

"The Selayar Navy base will later be equipped with several facilities, including a command headquarters building and a dock and other facilities. Later the Navy base for type C will be held by a commander with the rank of lieutenant colonel," he said.

He stated that the Selayar Archipelago which has 130 islands and two-thirds of its territory is the sea, and being on the strategic shipping lane of the Indonesian Archipelago Sea Lane II is certainly very vulnerable, needs supervision and security.

Therefore, the construction of the Indonesian Navy Base in the Selayar Islands is a necessity to maintain the security of Indonesia's marine areas, especially in the Selayar Islands Regency.
