When The Wealth Of The Deputy Chairperson Of The KPK Is Highlighted Because It Continues To Increase
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron is in the spotlight because his wealth has increased dramatically. He was also asked to explain about the increase by former KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah.
Based on the State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted to the KPK in 2019, Ghufron's wealth reached IDR 9,230,857,661. However, this figure jumped to IDR 4.25 billion in 2020 because his assets reached IDR 13,489,250,570.

In addition, he recorded other assets in the form of transportation equipment and machinery worth Rp.472 million as well as other movable assets worth Rp.137,977,500.
He was not registered to have securities at that time but Ghufron recorded cash and cash equivalents of Rp982,880,161. He is also listed as having a debt of IDR 582 million.
Meanwhile, in 2020, he was recorded as having assets in the form of 13 lands and buildings worth IDR 11,080,000,000. Dozens of lands and buildings belonging to Ghufron are scattered in Jember, East Java and South Jakarta.

This drastic increase in wealth was later highlighted by Febri Diansyah. Through his tweet on his Twitter account @febridiansyah, he asked Ghufron to provide an explanation.
"Pak @Nurul_Ghufron, is this data correct and can it be explained," wrote Febri opening the thread.
According to Febri, it is important for Ghufron to explain the origin of his wealth. Moreover, based on e-LHKPN data, Ghufron's assets have increased to IDR 6.7 billion since 2015 or when he was the Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Jember.
"As part of the Prevention of Corruption, it is better if the KPK leadership becomes an example of transparency regarding the origin of wealth from legal income," he said.
Furthermore, Febri suspects that the increase in assets is not only because of the salary that Ghufron received after becoming Deputy Chair of the KPK. He suspects that there are other factors such as an increase in value or an increase in assets.
However, the former KPK spokesman still asked Ghufron to explain where the additional assets came from. After all, Febri considered this an easy thing to do.
"This can of course be explained easily. Yes, it can also serve as an example of the principle of transparency for public officials. Part of Corruption Prevention. Please, Mr. @Nurul_Ghufron," he concluded.
