CSO Flags Will Not Be Removed By Officers, As Long As They Follow These Conditions
JAKARTA – The rise of flags of community organizations (ormas) in West Jakarta, especially in the Kembangan sub-district, has attracted the attention of the local City Government (Pemkot). Because, recently, after the clashes between mass organizations in Kembangan, law enforcement officers will control the attributes of mass organizations. Apart from not complying with regulations, it is also considered prone to friction.
Responding to the rise of mass organization flags, the West Jakarta City Government will coordinate with related parties to lower the flag.
"Later, we will try to communicate with the mass organizations. The best thing is that the mass organizations themselves carry that out," said Head of West Jakarta National Unity and Political Unity Agency (Suban Kesbangpol) Muhammad Matsani, quoting Antara, Thursday, December 2.
Matsani explained that mass organizations are still allowed to fly the flag if they are carrying out major activities. However, if the organization concerned does not carry out major activities, then the flag must be lowered.
"Only if the installation is not in the context of an event, it is ordered, taken down," said Matsani.
By coordinating with the mass organizations, Matsani hopes that the management of the related organizations will lower the flag for the sake of public order and comfort.
"We will communicate first. Hopefully the mass organizations will deploy themselves," said Matsani.
In the Kembangan area, precisely on Jalan Meruya Selatan, several mass organization flags were installed on several poles to residents' buildings.
The flags of these organizations are installed every 50 to 100 meters. Until now, the flags of these mass organizations are still being hung along the road.
