Lewokluok Traditional Village, East Flores Won 1st Place In The Indonesian Tourism Enchantment Award

NTT - The Lewokluok Traditional Village in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara was selected as the 1st place winner in the 2021 Indonesian Tourism Enchantment (API) Award.

"The Lewokluok Traditional Village won 1st place in the API Award 2021 in the Most Popular Traditional Village category with 63.15 percent of the votes," said Head of the Tourism and Culture Office of East Flores Regency Petrus Pemeng Liku as quoted by Antara, Kupang, December 2.

The announcement of the winner, he said, had been delivered at the 2021 API Award Night event which was held at the Sekayu Equestrian Stabel, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra on Tuesday, November 30.

Pemeng Liku said that the local government and the people of East Flores welcomed this winner because it made the Lewokluok Traditional Village more popular so that it could attract many visits from domestic and foreign tourists.

He explained that the Lewokluok Traditional Village in Demon Pagong District presents attractive values such as customs, rituals, and the unity of indigenous peoples that has been maintained so far.

In addition, there are other attractive things in the local traditional village such as the weaving activities of the women who are almost in every house and the processed culinary offerings which are continuously strengthened to become their identity.

Pemeng Liku further said that winning this championship also provided motivation for local governments to start preparing for future development steps.

"We have to think about how to care for and organize this traditional village in the future, preserve cultural assets and so on to make it more attractive to tourists," he said.

In addition, he said the readiness of the human resources of the community in traditional villages is also a concern of the local government so that in the future it will be more prepared in all aspects to receive tourist visits.

"So we need to prepare all aspects going forward so that the Lewokluok Traditional Village is more attractive and worthy of a visit by tourists," he said.
