How The ERACS Delivery Method Makes Nagita Slavina Recover Faster

JAKARTA - Celebrity, Nagita Slavina gave birth to her second child, Rayyanza Malik Ahmad. Nagita's delivery was carried out using the Encanced Recovery After Caesarean Surgery (ERACS) method. What's that?

"The birth was a caesarean section using the ERACS method," said Nagita during a virtual press conference, Tuesday, November 30.

Nagita admitted that she initially wanted to give birth normally. But, with consideration of convenience, he and his husband, Raffi Ahmad agreed to use the ERACS method.

The delivery process goes fast. After entering the delivery room at 07.00 WIB, Rayyana was born 36 minutes later.

"I want to try normal again, but again during the pandemic, the rituals are more complicated. Yesterday, there was this method, Alhamdulillah, it's easier. So why not try it," said Nagita.

ERACS or Enhanced Recovery After Cesarean Surgery (ERACS), in principle, is a caesarean section protocol whose goal is to speed up the recovery process and patient mobility. Mothers giving birth using the ERACS method are possible to move faster, which is about two hours post-surgery with minimal pain.

Quoted from Hello Sehat, the ERACS operation method involves collaboration between obstetricians - acting as operators, anesthesiologists, and pediatricians. ERACS is touted as an improvement over the old caesarean section protocol.

In the ERACS protocol, patients do not have to fast. Patients will only be asked to adjust a diet, the goal of which is to maintain fitness before, during, and after surgery. Technically there are some differences between the ERACS method and a conventional caesarean section.

First, the use of syringes. In ERACS, a small cann atraumatic needle is used. In addition, emla is also applied before the injection of anesthesia. These two things reduce the effects of trauma on the anesthetic injection site. The result, there is no effect of post-operative injection post-operative back trauma.

Second, the dose of anesthetic drugs. In the ERACS method, the administration of anesthetic drugs is reduced to one-fourth. This dose reduction is done to speed up the healing process so that the patient can return to moving faster. With patients who move faster, the body's metabolism will also be faster, which of course supports accelerated healing.

The third difference between the ERACS method and the conventional caesarean section is the direct inward slicing technique. The team of doctors used very sharp scalpels. With this technique, the doctor will slice from the first incision directly into the muscle or fascia membrane.

"It's just like people slicing meat, which is immediately sliced into one line. The smaller the knife the doctor uses, the less trauma to the skin," the article reads.

"C-sections usually slice them one by one, causing pain and the incisions are not good enough. This will make the healing process take longer."

Finally, the advantage of ERACS is the use of the tummy tuck technique. Tummy tuck is known as a technique in plastic surgery. Usually done to tidy up a sagging belly. In ERACS deliveries, a tummy tuck is used in patients who wish to disguise the surgical scars on their abdomen.
