Boosting National Corn Production, Ewindo Launches New Variety Mighty F1

JAKARTA - PT East West Seed Indonesia (Ewindo) supports the government's efforts to boost national corn production. One of the ways is by launching the Mighty F1 sweet corn seeds. This corn is claimed to have several advantages that can benefit farmers.

Managing Director of Ewindo, Glenn Pardede, believes that the sweet corn variety, which was launched in Wonosari village, Pekalongan, East Lampung, will become a favorite among farmers, traders and consumers. Because it managed to answer a number of challenges that have existed so far.

"So this is our first launch for the Perkasa F1 sweet corn variety. Why in Lampung, because Lampung province is one of the largest sweet corn producing regions in Indonesia. After this we will do it in East Java," he said in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, December 1st.

Glenn said the Sweet Corn Mighty F1 has three main advantages. First, it has a larger fruit with a size of 21x4.6 cm. With this measure, the potential yield is also increased, which is up to 18 tons per hectare (Ha).

Second, continued Glenn, the higher level of sweetness reaches 14.6 brix. Not only that, the fresh sweet taste of Perkasa F1 corn can last 3 to 5 days. Therefore, this corn has the potential to be favored by consumers.

"The third advantage that is also a solution to the current challenges is a long shelf life of up to 4 days. With a long shelf life, this sweet corn will be favored by collectors and traders. Because corn will remain sweet until it reaches consumers," he said.

Furthermore, Glenn said Ewindo also presented a mighty house in Wonosari village, Pekalongan district, East Lampung regency. This house can be used as a forum for farmers to consult and discuss related to planting Perkasa F1 sweet corn.
