National Police Chief Asks Korpolairud To Optimize Performance, Participate In Handling The Pandemic

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has asked the Baharkam Police Air and Water Police Corps (Korpolairud) Baharkam Polri to optimize the implementation of their duties as well as represent the presence of the state in every region of Indonesia that requires the presence of the National Police.

This hope was conveyed by Sigit while attending the commemoration of the 71st Anniversary of the National Police Corps of the Indonesian National Police at the Head of the Ditpoludara Headquarters, Pondok Cabe, Banten.

"We hope that the Polairud staff will continue to optimize the implementation of their duties in order to make the representation of the state present in every area that requires the presence of the state and requires the presence of the National Police," Sigit said, quoted in a written statement from the Public Relations Division of the Police, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 1.

Not only giving hope, Sigit also reminded that the challenges faced by the ranks of Korpolairud are increasingly complex, so that careful preparation is needed.

Among the challenges of these tasks, such as optimizing activities to help control and handle the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Police Chief said that Korpolairud's role was central in controlling COVID-19, one of which was the acceleration of vaccination for people living on the outer islands or having difficult land access.

General Sigit said, Korpolairud has a role starting from the distribution of vaccines, then accelerating vaccines on the outer islands in water areas.

"The community also certainly needs to get vaccination assistance, including related logistics distribution," he said.

Sigit said the acceleration of vaccination to all parts of Indonesia would anticipate and increase awareness regarding the presence of new variants of COVID-19 such as Omicron.

Therefore, the National Police Chief emphasized that Korpolairud must accelerate vaccination, starting from setting up vaccine outlets in the waters to encouraging the logistics of distribution of vaccinations needed by the community. This is because it requires security considering that it is located in a remote area or between islands.

According to Sigit, the acceleration of vaccination can realize the government's program in the context of achieving 70 percent vaccination this year and will continue to be implemented in the future.

With the new variants, including the Omicron, said the National Police Chief, the Indonesian nation must be vigilant.

"Of course the series of COVID-19 control starting from how to strengthen health protocols, starting from 3M, 3T, and accelerated vaccination can really be implemented," said Sigit.
