National Team Leaves For Singapore, PSSI Chairman: They Are Ready To Fight For The Nation

JAKARTA - The steps for the Indonesian national team to compete in the 2020 AFF Cup are in sight. Today the Garuda squad has even left for Singapore, where the prestigious Southeast Asian soccer competition is being held.

Along with the departure of the national team to Singapore, the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI said that all Garuda troops were in a state of combat readiness to give their best.

"They are ready to fight to give the best for this nation and country," said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan quoted from PSSI's official website, Wednesday, December 1.

Before leaving for Singapore, Shin Tae-yong's team first stayed for a month in Turkey to conduct a training camp and several test matches.

All the agendas were prepared by Shin Tae-yong as a thorough preparation ahead of appearing in the 2020 AFF Cup this December. While in Turkey, the national team conducted three trials in which two of them won big wins which Iriawan recognized as a rapid improvement.

"After the friendly matches and the training camp in Turkey, the performance of the national team continues to improve. That's a report from Shin Tae-yong and PSSI Technical Director Indra Sjafri to me," explained Iriawan.

On his way to Singapore, Shin Tae-Yong has confirmed the names of 30 players who will compete. The best players chosen by the coach are a combination of players in national and international competitions.

"It's a good combination of players. The average age of this squad is still young. I'm sure the future of this team will be bright," said Iriawan.

As a form of serious support for the national team's struggle, Iriawan admitted that he would be present in Singapore. He will also pray for the Garuda squad to win.

“Me and some Exco PSSI will also go to Singapore to support them. God willing, they can become champions,'' added Iriawan.

In the 2021 AFF Cup competition, Indonesia is in Group B with Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Indonesia's struggle in the hell group will begin on December 9th.
