Suspected Of Harassing 3 Policewomen, Head Of Criminal Investigation Unit Of Selayar Police Dismissed
JAKARTA - Kasat Reskrim Selayar Police Iptu AM has been temporarily suspended because of his position. This is because he is suspected of verbally abusing a number of policewomen.
"Responding to and following up on the report, currently the police chief has been deactivated. The chronology of the incident is verbal abuse," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes Ibrahim Tompo, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, August 11.
He said that the criminal investigators and the Propam division were currently conducting an in-depth examination of the reports of the three policewomen who also worked at the Selayar Police.
Separately, the Selayar Police Chief AKBP Temmangnganro Machmud confirmed the temporary dismissal of Iptu AM from his post after being reported on suspicion of verbal sexual harassment.
"Mr Kapolda will decide regarding his successor, but we are currently still making mediation efforts with parties who are not pleased or victims," said Temmangnganro who considered Iptu AM's actions initially just joking.
According to him, it is suspected that Iptu AM offended the policewomen who reported them because they talked about words that violated the norm of decency.
However, he admitted that he was still pursuing a mediation path between the reporter who felt he was being harassed and the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at the Selayar Police.
"While we are still investigating it and we will mediate because this is our family that we also have to protect and give advice," he said.
