JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said a number of areas in Indonesia have the potential for heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
Based on information from the official BMKG website in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 1, the weather is predicted to occur in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten and West Java.
The weather forecast also applies to DKI Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.
Meanwhile, areas that have the potential for rain that can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds are Yogyakarta, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi and South Sulawesi.
BMKG warns the public regarding high waves of 2.5-4 meters in West Lampung Waters, North Waters of the Anambas Islands - Natuna Islands, West Indian Ocean of Lampung, and North Waters of Sangihe Islands - Talaud Islands.
The potential for high waves also applies to the western and southern parts of the Sunda Strait, the northern part of the Maluku Sea and the Halmahera Sea, the southern waters of Banten, and the northern waters of Halmahera.
In addition, it is also necessary to watch out for high waves of 2.5-4 meters in the South Indian Ocean, Banten to West Java, and the North Pacific Ocean from Halmahera to Papua. BMKG also warns of very high waves of 4-6 meters in the North Natuna Sea.
The shipping sector is expected to pay attention to the high wave warning issued by the BMKG, which is valid from Wednesday, December 1 at 07.00 WIB to Thursday, December 2 at 07.00 WIB.
