PALEMBANG - The Education Office of Palembang City, South Sumatra, has canceled even semester school holidays for students in this city during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays.
The abolition of school holidays is an instruction from the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) number 62 of 2021 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Head of the Palembang City Education Office, Ahmad Zulinto, said the cancellation had been socialized to each school principal at all levels, both public and private, through a circular issued on Monday, November 29.

According to him, based on the appeal, an adjustment was made in the circular where the even semester holiday was postponed to January 10-15, 2022, and students will return to school on January 17, 2022, following the even semester of the 2022/2023 school year.
Because even so, the schedule for the odd semester report card, which was originally scheduled for December 16-18, 2021, has also been postponed to January 6-8, 2022.
In addition, the implementation of the end-of-semester assessment (PAS) which originally only took place from November 29, 2021 to December 4, 2021, was changed to limited face-to-face learning and distance learning alternately until December 31, 2021.
"Also prohibiting leave and traveling outside the city from December 24, 2021 to January 2, 2022 for teachers and ASN employees," he said.
