New Central KPI Forms Team For Handling Sexual Bullying And Harassment In MS Cases

JAKARTA - The Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) has just formed a team to handle and prevent bullying and sexual harassment in their internal environment.

This team was formed as a follow-up to the alleged sexual harassment and bullying experienced by MS, one of his employees. She was harassed and bullied by her coworkers.

"The Central KPI has formed a team to handle and prevent sexual harassment and violence, consisting of seven members, consisting of five human rights activists and two commissioners from the central KPI. Effective from November 16, 2021," said Central KPI chairman Agung Suprio at a press conference. online, Tuesday, November 30.

Agung said that this team had the task of assisting victims as well as formulating policies and guidelines for policy formulation in dealing with and preventing similar incidents from occurring. He detailed that this team was chaired by Dian Sari Kartika Sari who also serves as a member.

"Secondly, Mulyo Hadi Purnomo, Deputy Chairperson of KPI, and the third, Mrs. Mimah Susanti, the Coordinator Commissioner of Broadcast Content Supervision," he said.

The next members are Azriana Ermanalu, Hartoyo, Sri Nurherwarti, and Maria Soumokil. "These are the names of the chairman and members of his team," said Agung.

Together with this team, he continued, the results of the study and recommendations of Komnas HAM will be followed up by becoming a reference for internal policy making. Thus, in the future, bullying and sexual harassment will no longer be experienced by employees.

In addition, the Central KPI ensures that it will continue to provide regular guidance and socialization to employees. The goal is that the things that traumatized MS don't happen again.

As previously reported, this harassment and bullying case arose after MS, a KPI employee told his experience of harassment and bullying. The unpleasant incident was carried out by his office colleague.

Most recently, Komnas HAM issued the results of the examination and recommendations regarding these allegations. One of the results is that the Central KPI is considered to have failed to create a safe, comfortable, and healthy working atmosphere.

Komnas HAM said that the bullying and harassment experienced by MS was a common occurrence among KPI employees. However, these actions are often considered as ordinary jokes without any follow-up.
