Luhut: SNI Certification Can Protect MSMEs To Compete With Foreign Products
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the application of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) certification was a solution in responding to challenges regarding the quality of products for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This includes protecting against the invasion of foreign products, so that local products can compete.
"This SNI protects our (products) to be able to compete with foreign products," he said at the Launching of Digital Storefront for MSME Products with SNI, Tuesday, November 30.
Furthermore, Luhut said that MSME products that have received SNI certification can be sold digitally made by the National Certification Agency (BSN), namely Quality Stores.
According to Luhut, the presence of this platform will greatly help accelerate MSME products to be able to compete significantly in the domestic market. He considered that the more often SNI products are promoted, the wider the opportunity to be known.
Furthermore, Luhut said that he really wanted Indonesian products to penetrate the global market and could boost the national economy. For this reason, it is necessary to provide assistance to MSMEs in developing their business.
"Therefore, the application of SNI is one of the solutions that can be applied to answer the challenges in the development of the MSME sector, namely the legitimacy or quality of MSME products," he said.
Luhut also hopes that this platform can contribute and attract people's attention to MSME products. The development of MSMEs, said Luhut, is a joint struggle with collaboration and synergy of all parties between the government, the private sector and associations.
"If we want and are united, we can do it," he explained.
