Omicron Variant COVID Lurks, Megawati Orders PDIP Cadres To Respond, Stay Careful
JAKARTA - The PDI-P (PDIP) responded quickly to information and warnings from the government regarding the new variant of the COVID-19 virus, Omicron.
Secretary General of the DPP PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto said General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri immediately ordered all party cadres in Indonesia to respond.
The decision was issued through a special instruction letter numbered 3548 issued November 29, 2021 and signed by Hasto and the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP for Health, Women and Children Sri Rahayu.
The instruction letter is addressed to all DPC and DPD PDIP administrators throughout Indonesia, Regional Heads and/or Deputy Provincial and Regency/City Heads of PDI-P Cadre and Leaders of Provincial DPRD and Regency/City DPRD from PDI-P throughout Indonesia.
"Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri ordered all PDI-P cadres throughout Indonesia to be responsive and fast in responding to the development of the situation and the threat of the COVID-19 virus. PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto in a written statement, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 30.
"Mrs. Mega advised not to underestimate the Omicron variant, because it can erode immunity, even though it has been vaccinated. So those who have been vaccinated remain careful," said Hasto.
The PDI-P's entire concentration at this time is moving downwards to help the people and encourage populist programs to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"PDI-P believes that the administrations of President Joko Widodo and KH Ma'ruf Amin will take the best steps to overcome this pandemic," reads the party's official letter.
Hasto said that the instructions are expected to be followed up immediately and carried out with full responsibility by Party cadres throughout Indonesia. "Mrs. Megawati and members of the PDI-P DPP will actively monitor the implementation of these instructions," concluded Hasto.
