Banda Aceh District Court Judge Rejects Pretrial Of Bridge Corruption Suspect

BANDA ACEH - The Aceh High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) stated that the sole judge of the Banda Aceh District Court rejected the pretrial application of the suspect in the corruption crime of bridge construction.

Head of the Legal Information and Public Relations Section of the Aceh Attorney General's Office, Munawal, said the pretrial was submitted by the suspect on behalf of Saifuddin.

"The suspect Saifuddin filed a pretrial application. The pretrial applicant considers his determination as a suspect to be invalid," Munawal said in Banda Aceh, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 29.

Previously, the Aceh Prosecutor's Office investigators named Saifuddin along with four other people as suspects in the alleged criminal act of corruption in the construction of a bridge in Kuala Gigieng, Pidie Regency with a contract value of Rp. 1.8 billion.

Munawal said that Saifuddin as the pretrial applicant reasoned that his determination as a suspect in a corruption case did not meet at least two pieces of evidence.

In the pretrial hearing at the Banda Aceh District Court, said Munawal, the Aceh Attorney General's Office submitted evidence in the form of documents for the construction of the bridge.

"The judge of the Banda Aceh District Court on Monday (29/11) decided to reject the pretrial application in its entirety. Thus, the determination of the applicant as a suspect is not legally problematic," said Munawal.
