Sand Mine Workers In Banyuwangi Killed In Avalanches
BANYUWANGI - A landslide occurred in the sand mine of Sumberbulu Village, Songgon, Banyuwangi, East Java. A worker with the initials IS (37) died in an avalanche at a depth of 3 meters.
Songgon Sector Police Chief Iptu Eko Darmawan said that the victim's daily life was a manual sand digger in a sand mine.
"Victims usually work manually digging sand in the rice fields," said Iptu Eko, Monday, November 29.
However, this morning, when the victim was digging the sand manually, suddenly an avalanche occurred. The victim was buried in the rubble.
"At that time, the victim's wife, who was also at the location, tried to help the victim and shouted for the residents' help. Residents who came later dug up the sand that was piling up the victim, after being successfully removed, it turned out that the victim had died," said Iptu Eko.
The victim has actually been repeatedly reminded by residents not to work in the sand mine. Because the sand mine is prone to landslides due to frequent rains.
"The victim died with quite severe injuries. Active bleeding in the eyes, nose and mouth. Bruises on the neck and chest," he said.
