New Immigration Rules Concerning The Prohibition Of Entry For Foreigners Anticipating COVID-19 Omicron, Takes Into Effect Tomorrow

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) through the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration has updated the temporary entry ban for foreign citizens (WNA) to prevent the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

"The Directorate General of Immigration refuses entry to foreigners who have stopped or lived in South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, Lesotho, and Hong Kong within 14 days," said the Head of Public Relations and General Directorate General of Immigration Kemenkumham Arya Pradhana Anggakara through a written statement received in Jakarta, Monday, November 29.

The rules for prohibiting entry for foreigners are effective on November 30, 2021. Previously, the government stated that the policy would be effective on November 29.

"So, if there are foreigners who have visited these countries within the past 14 days, they are immediately refused entry to Indonesia," he said.

In addition, the Directorate General of Immigration has also temporarily suspended the granting of visit visas and limited stay visas for citizens of South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, Lesotho, and Hong Kong. apart from these countries, currently there are still restrictions on the rules according to the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 34 of 2021.

The Minister of Law and Human Rights contains the issuance of Visas and Immigration Stay Permits in the Period of Handling the Spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 and National Economic Recovery.
