Take Note! Already 208 Thousand Paid Workers Under Rp. 5 Million Have Registered To Get Assistance

JAKARTA - The government plans to provide incentives to workers whose salaries are below IDR 5 million, amounting to IDR 600 thousand per month. Currently, there are 208 thousand workers recorded from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said that the government did indeed refer to BPJS Employment data for the provision of these incentives. This is because the distribution process will be more complicated if the government has to look for data to find data again, or participants outside of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan will be more difficult.

"If the government does not have this name and address, or even the account number, it will be difficult for the government to help them. In the future there will be a lot of chaos," he said in a video conference, Monday, August 10.

Even though the BPJS TK data does not completely record all employees, Sri said this is a lesson for every company and individual to register with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. He said the impact was positive.

"If you don't have a name, address, account number, it will be difficult to help them," he said.

This state treasurer admits that there will be people who are not covered by salary assistance for employees who earn less than Rp. 5 million because they are not recorded in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

However, said Sri Mulyani, it was not a problem. This is because, he said, they have also been reached by other social assistance provided by the government, because it is included in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS).

"Apart from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, this is a challenge. We hope that now it has been provided through PKH social assistance and non-PKH there are basic food cards, BLT village funds. It has been covered because the amount of benefits is equal to Rp. 600 thousand times four," he said.

The government has provided various social assistance programs (bansos) for the protection of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting from the Family Hope Program (PKH), basic food cards, non-PKH groceries, to village fund BLT.

"This amounts to 10 million (PKH), then 20 million (basic food cards), plus nine million people (non-PKH basic necessities), plus 11 million people in the village have all been covered, plus 5.6 million for pre-employment cards. This in total covers the entire community up to close to 60 to 70 million recipient groups, "he explained.

As is well known, the government will provide further stimulus to boost household consumption. One of them is for employees with salaries below Rp 5 million per month. As many as 13 million workers will be targeted for aid distribution.

The workers will receive a total of IDR 2.4 million in assistance at IDR 600 thousand per month for four months. The total budget prepared by the government to realize this assistance is IDR 31.2 trillion.
