Successful Production Of The Most Luxurious Sedan Model, Government Praises Mercedes Benz Indonesia
JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) expresses its own appreciation for PT Mercedes Benz Indonesia which has been able to produce the most luxurious sedan model in the current Mercedes-Benz line-up.
The Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (Ilmate) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawazier, said this shows that the automotive industry in Indonesia has been trusted as a production base for all segments of motorized vehicles from low, middle to premium and luxury classes.
"The government encourages Mercedes Benz to make Indonesia an export hub for motorized vehicles, both conventional and electrified to the global market," he said as reported by the official website on Sunday, November 28.
According to Taufiek, the automotive industry in Indonesia has been able to compete in the global arena. This indication can be reflected in the achievement of exports of four or more wheeled vehicles, including their components.
In the January to September 2021 period, there were 207,000 units of CBU vehicle exports with a value of IDR 37.65 trillion. Then, as many as 62,000 sets for CKD with a value of Rp. 960 billion, and 65 million pieces of components with a value of Rp. 21.86 trillion.
"The Indonesian automotive export destinations have reached more than 80 countries," he said.
On the same occasion, President Director of Mercedes Benz Indonesia, Patrick Schwind, said that in 2020 Mercedes-Benz has reached 50 years of operation in Indonesia.
"Here we have produced both passenger and commercial motorized vehicles at the Wanaherang facility, West Java," he said.
It was stated that the luxury specialist vehicle manufacturer officially launched two of its newest models, the E-Class and S-Class produced by the Indonesian factory.
“The company is committed to continuing to operate in Indonesia for the next 50 years and more. This commitment is implemented through the continuous addition of domestically assembled models, including the launch of the E Class and S Class,” he explained.
Patrick claims that this effort will have a positive impact on utilization, expansion of investment, employment and deepening of automotive components.
"Our steps will strengthen the brand image and customer loyalty of Mercedes Benz in Indonesia as well as provide added value for the development of the domestic automotive industry," he concluded.
