Ask 38 Indonesian Students In Hangzhou To Be Calm, Indonesian Embassy In Beijing: Don't Panic, Just Follow The Prokes Applicable
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, China, asked 38 Indonesian students in Hangzhou to remain calm and comply with the health protocols implemented by local authorities after new cases of COVID-19 were discovered.
"Don't panic, just obey the applicable prokes," said the Indonesian Embassy's Education and Culture Attaché in Beijing Yaya Sutarya in Beijing, Saturday, citing Antara.
The Zhejiang University campus in Hangzhou City was suddenly locked down on Thursday, November 25 evening after one of the lecturers tested positive for COVID-19.
Hundreds of thousands of people, including two Indonesian citizens, were locked inside the largest campus in the capital city of Zhejiang Province.
The campus, assisted by the local police, immediately locked all entrances on Thursday at 18.00 local time (17.00 WIB).
Anyone without exception on campus underwent a nucleic acid test (PCR) resulting in long queues until the next day. There was also a wholesale action at the campus canteen and supermarket on Thursday night.
Yaya received information that the PCR test results for the two Indonesian students were negative, but he was still not allowed to leave the campus area until the situation was completely under control.
The lockdown at Zhejiang University is the first time that has occurred in a campus area in China in the last two years.
Several campuses in China have also begun to limit meeting activities in the classroom since the positive case for the lecturer in Hangzhou emerged.
China applies a high standard of zero new cases ahead of the Winter Olympics, so as soon as there is one positive case, it is immediately responded to by a mass PCR test accompanied by a partial lockdown in one area.
