Returning From Retirement, Hayao Miyazaki Makes New Film With Studio Ghibli
JAKARTA - Director Hayao Miyazaki has returned from retirement to direct a new animated film.
In an interview with the New York Times, Miyazaki didn't say much about the film. However, he said this story was adapted from the book How Do You Live? by Genzaburo Yoshino in 1937.
How Do You Live? tells the story of a teenager in Tokyo who lives with his uncle after his father dies. Reportedly this book is Hayao Miyazaki's favorite reading.
When asked why Miyazaki wanted to make a film, he simply replied, "Because I want to."
Hayao Miyazaki is also said to be working with producer from Studio Ghibli, Toshio Suzuki. The producer stated that this new film will be fantasy and grandiose genre.
This is not the first time Miyazaki has returned from retirement. He first decided to retire in the late 1990s. One year later, he directed Spirited Away and won an Oscar.
His last film was The Wind Rises which was released in 2013 and tells the story of Japanese aviator Jiro Horikoshi.
