Sahroni Reminds Formula E Is Not A Political Campaign For Certain People Or Parties: This Is To Show Jakarta Is Equal To New York, London, Etc.
JAKARTA - Secretary of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) Ahmad Sahroni said the international Formula E racing event was a form of campaign. However, the campaign he was referring to was not a political campaign for one particular person but to show that DKI Jakarta has the qualities of a big city like in developed countries.
"Formula E is a campaign. Not a political campaign for a particular person or party, but an Indonesian campaign in the eyes of the world that DKI Jakarta is ready to welcome a modern era that is environmentally friendly and on par with big cities in other developed countries such as New York, London, Berlin, and others. ," said Sahroni, quoted from his written statement, Saturday, November 27.
The Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI said that Formula E or the Jakarta E-Prix could bring other benefits such as revitalizing the Indonesian economy from micro to macro scale.
In addition, Sahroni also said that this international event could be used to promote the domestic battery industry for electric cars, which has been President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s dream.
"This is a momentum for political revival, while at the same time introducing electric cars and the domestic battery industry to the public. So I beg you, let's put aside prejudices and political interests, we work together for the success of this event," said the member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
Furthermore, Sahroni is honored to have been appointed as Chief Executive of Formula E by the Governor of DKI Jakarta. He hopes that this electric car racing event will be able to bring Indonesia's name to the international automotive scene.
"I am honored, hopefully my passion and experience in the automotive world so far can help raise the name of Indonesia through this important event," he said.
"Because this is all for the pride and future of Indonesia. Formula E racing is not just a spectacle like Formula 1 or Superbike," concluded Sahroni.
