Exploring The Motive For The Serial Killing Of 5 Residents At OKU, South Sumatra, The Police Invite Doctors And Psychologists To Ensure The Mental Health Condition Of The Perpetrators
JAKARTA - Ogan Komering Ulu Resort Police (OKU Police), South Sumatra, is investigating the motive for the murder of five residents of Kampung I, Sungai Bunglai Village, Peninjauan District, OKU.
The five victims had the initials S (45), I (48), E (40), HJ (33) and Er (35). They were tragically killed by the perpetrator with the initials OF (25) a man who was a local resident on Friday, November 26.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the OKU Police, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Hillal Adi Imawan in Baturaja, Saturday said that the perpetrators had been taken into custody by members of the Police Headquarters moments after carrying out the action.
The perpetrator was examined intensively by officers to dig up the reason he killed the five neighbors.
According to him, from the information obtained by the perpetrator, he stated that he felt hurt towards one of the victims who was suspected of having taken his ATM card.
However, the police have not been able to confirm this information because when questioned, the perpetrator was a little inconsiderate when speaking. As is known from information from local residents, the perpetrator is suspected of having mental retardation.
"We can't confirm what the motive is. We are still following up on this incident such as examining witnesses and needing the help of a doctor or psychologist to ensure the mental health condition of the perpetrator," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Public Relations Section of the OKU Police, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Mardi Nursal, said that based on information from witnesses, the incident took place last Friday at around 16.30 WIB.
He explained that at first, the perpetrator OF (25) left his house on a motorbike and ate somai at a food stall.
There, the perpetrator met the first victim, H, who was unexpectedly stabbed by the perpetrator using a knife until he fell down.
“Then there was a commotion there. So, the second victim I who was passing by at the location stopped intending to look, but instead got stabbed, "he said.
The incident continued, the perpetrator entered the back of the resident's house towards the well. There, he met the third victim, E, who was fetching water.
He continued, E (40), Er's husband, who saw his wife screaming in pain, immediately left the house intending to help. But unlucky he was also stabbed by the perpetrator.
"Er was rushed to the hospital, but his life could not be saved due to injuries to the neck," he said.
The same was experienced by the fifth victim S who heard the commotion immediately left the house and died using a sharp weapon. After that, the perpetrator went straight home until he was finally arrested by officers.
"Currently the victims have been handed over to their families," he said.
