Fake Dentist Arrested, Clinic Promotion Using Selebgram

JAKARTA - The police have arrested a fake dentist who practices without having a Registration Certificate (STR) and a Practice License (SIP). This illegal practice has been going on for one year.

The suspect with the initials ADS convinced his patient to look and use medical equipment like a real dentist. Even though the suspect does not have the ability in the field of dentistry.

"The ADS suspect has been a dentist assistant at several dental clinics. However, the suspect has never studied at the Faculty of Dentistry, does not have a Doctor Registration Certificate from the Indonesian Medical Council," said Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters on Monday. , August 10.

The disclosure of this case, said Yusri, began when investigators received information about illegal practices at the Antoni Dental Care clinic located at Jalan P Timor 1 Number 24 RT.03 / RW.09, Perumnas III, Aren Jaya Village, Bekasi Timur District, Kota Bekasi. Information received in July 2020 was followed up by tracing the presence of the clinic.

This investigation was also carried out by deploying investigators undercover by pretending to be a patient with tartar cleaning needs.

When it was confirmed that the dentist's clinic was illegal, the police carried out raids and arrested ADS. The clinic was not given an identity (signpost) for the dentist clinic as usual.

"The team searched and arrested the person concerned to be directly checked. It turned out that he was not a dentist," said Yusri.

Based on the examination, there are hundreds of patients who have been to this clinic. Because the suspect marketed his services through social media.

"The ADS suspect is looking for patients at the Antoni Dental Care clinic by using social media Instagram or Facebook, and using celebrities or influencers to promote his clinic," said Yusri.

From the disclosure of this case, a number of medical devices were used as evidence. Among them are medicines for teeth, various kinds of medical devices, documents, medical practice clothes, practice register books, payment receipts and communication tools.

For his actions, the suspect is charged under Article 77 in conjunction with Article 73 paragraph (1) and or Article 78 in conjunction with Article 73 paragraph (2) of Law Number 29 of 2004 concerning Medical Practice, shall be sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of 10 years or a maximum fine of IDR 150 million.
