Luhut: World Leader Admits Indonesia Can Handle COVID-19 Pandemic
JAKARTA - It is only a matter of days before the G20 Indonesia Presidency will begin. This event will run throughout 2022.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the G20 event proved to the international world Indonesia's ability to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the country. Indonesia is said to have succeeded in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I must testify that global leaders are increasingly recognizing Indonesia, especially after controlling the spread of COVID-19, an invisible enemy globally," he said at a press briefing at Welcoming Indonesia's G20 Presidency in 2022, Friday, November 26.
According to Luhut, this world recognition should be an impetus for Indonesia to be able to face other problems. According to Luhut, the complex COVID-19 problem can be solved with discipline and collaboration.
"Through discipline and collaboration, there should be nothing that we cannot solve together. On the other hand, we must also realize that these potentials will remain static so that they are directed at certain goals," he continued.
In addition, Luhut said that the mandate of the G20 Presidency that Indonesia received in 2022 would strengthen Indonesia's influence at the national level.
"In my view, the handover of the G20 host to Indonesia implies that we are increasing global recognition, influence and power. They (other G20 member countries) are also waiting to increase our role at the regional and global levels," said Luhut.
