Hundreds Of Thousands Of Joint Officials Hold Candle Operations To Secure Christmas-New Year
JAKARTA - Hundreds of thousands of TNI-Polri personnel will be deployed in securing and supervising health protocols (prokes) during Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022.
This security and supervision is to prevent an increase in mobility which has an impact on the spike in COVID-19 cases. Moreover, during the Christmas and New Year's holidays (nataru), the government has also implemented a Level 3 PPKM policy throughout Indonesia.
"We have involved all of Indonesia, around 217,000, throughout Indonesia. The TNI is also preparing its personnel, the Satpol PP, and the health ranks are also preparing, and other relevant stakeholders," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo to reporters, Friday, November 26.
The joint personnel will work in the Candle Operation which will take place from December 20 to January 2, 2022. The implementation of this operation is also a follow-up to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 62 of 2021.
"The National Police also have posts at all toll gates, and certain access points on the border between regions as check points, so there will also be checks there whether the people traveling have SKM (outgoing letters)," said Dedi .
Joint officers will also check other equipment such as a COVID-19 free certificate. If the community does not have it, then the officers will conduct a health check.
"For example, an antigen swab will not be carried out, if for example he (the public) is positive, the PCR will be followed up," said Dedi.
