President Jokowi Will Open World Anti-Corruption Day December 9
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is planned to open the commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) 2021. The highlight of this event will be held on December 9 at the KPK Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.
"We invite the President of the Republic of Indonesia to jointly commemorate Anti-Corruption Day this year as in previous years," said Acting Deputy for Coordination and Supervision of the KPK Yudhiawan Wibisono at a press conference, Friday, November 26.
Yudhiawan ensured that President Jokowi would attend in person. This is different from Hakordia 2020 and Hakordia 2019.
At Hakordia 2019, Jokowi was absent and replaced by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin. Meanwhile, at Hakordia 2020, President Jokowi only delivered remarks due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
"This year the president came at 09.30, the vice president came at 11.30. The opening was by the President, the Vice President closed," he said.
In addition, a number of officials are also scheduled to attend such as the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Attorney General ST Burhanuddin as well as ministers.
In its implementation, Hakordia will not only be carried out in Jakarta. There are four other regions that will be part of this series of events, namely Kendari, Banjarmasin, Pekanbaru, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
This year's Hakordia commemoration was carried out with the theme One Unified Build an Anti-Corruption Culture. "Through this theme, the KPK wants to encourage all ministries/agencies, local governments, and all elements of society to jointly organize a series of Hakordia 2021 activities," said Yudhiawan.
"We want to invite all communities, ministries/institutions, and the private sector together to commemorate World Anti-Corruption Day to continue to remind us of our ideals to build an Indonesia free from corruption through our respective roles," he concluded.
