Infrastructure, Excellent Human Resources, And Special Autonomy Are The Government's Commitment To Build Papua
JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Finance fully supports development in Papua through the provision of infrastructure facilities, development of superior human resources (HR), and support for special autonomy funds (otsus). This was conveyed by the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani in an official statement during a working visit (kunker) to Papua today.
According to the Minister of Finance, the acceleration of development, welfare, and improvement of the quality of public services as well as the continuity and sustainability of development are very important for the province in eastern Indonesia.
"I hope the economy in Papua will grow even higher because Papua in the 2021 period will have a much higher economic growth than the national one, which is above 14, supported by commodity yields," he said, Friday, November 26.
The state treasurer's work visit to Papua also inaugurated the construction of state flats (Rusunara), and inaugurated the Jayapura State Finance Building which had been completed.
"In this situation, Papua will enjoy in addition to the special autonomy funds. Later, we will receive revenue-sharing funds, especially since yesterday we fully supported the successful implementation of PON," he said.
Furthermore, he revealed that the government is also ready to provide facilities to improve the quality of human resources through the affirmative scholarship program for the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP).
It is said that the contribution of the Ministry of Finance through the LPDP in improving human resources in the provinces of Papua and West Papua from 2013 to 2021 was able to produce 493 domestic and foreign graduates, consisting of 328 masters and 160 doctors and 5 specialist doctors.
Meanwhile, the improvement of the special autonomy fund policy aims to progress and improve the welfare of the people of Papua and the indigenous people of Papua.
For information, the change in the amount of the special autonomy fund from 2 percent to 2.25 percent of the DAU allocation is expected to provide optimal, fair and accountable benefits for the acceleration of Papua's development.
In the future, the Minister of Finance is committed to supporting the acceleration of the management of special autonomy funds through the Secretariat of the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development (BP3OKP).
"The presence of assistance and supervision from the central government through ministries and technical institutions from the planning, coaching, monitoring, to evaluation stages will ensure that the distribution of special autonomy and TKDD funds in Papua can run well. Thus, equitable development and improvement of welfare in Papua can be achieved immediately," closed the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
