MK Orders To Revise Copyright Law, DPR To Meet With Government In Early December

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives will hold a working meeting with the government in early December following up on the order of the Constitutional Court's decision on Law Number 11 on Job Creation. The Constitutional Court asked for the revision of the Copyright Act.

"We will hold a working meeting with the government on December 6 to discuss several points, listen and observe the Constitutional Court's decision," said Deputy Chairman of the Legislation Body (Baleg) DPR, Willy Aditya, Friday, November 26.

The Constitutional Court gave two years for the DPR and the government to discuss and improve the law.

"We are given two years to make improvements, either through the supervisory function and so on and of course then we will have a joint meeting with the government. At the working meeting, it may be followed up in the form of a joint working team and then we will not take any policies. Derived policies in the form of strategic PPs such as the Constitutional Court's mandate are our concern," he explained.

The NasDem politician, however, does not yet know whether a working meeting to improve the Ciptaker Law will be held by Baleg or not. Because, he said, that right will be decided by the leadership of the DPR.

"No, not at Baleg. Later it will be decided by the leadership, but so far, Baleg has represented the National Legislative Council and the Baleg Committee discussed yesterday, so of course it will be discussed when we hold a working meeting," he explained.

Willy said that in discussing the revision of the Ciptaker Law, the DPR would invite all parties. Including from workers who have been contrary to the Act.

"Not only labor unions, of course we open ourselves as wide as possible from public input, one of which is also unions related to UMK, UMK, which they discussed today so of course we ask for the widest possible input from the public," said Willy.
