Prevent Doubtful Decisions, PSSI Will Present Goal Referees In The Fourth Series Of League 1

JAKARTA - PSSI General Chairman (Ketum) Mochamad Iriawan took quick steps over several incidents related to the unclear results of the 2021 Indonesian Liga 1 match. Iriawan said his party would start presenting goal referees in the upcoming fourth series.

The decision was taken by Iriawan because he reflected on several controversial matches.

For example, the match when Persija Jakarta faced Persib Bandung, where many said that the ball had crossed the goal line but the referee did not decide it was a goal. Likewise in the match Persebaya against Persela which had the same case.

Later, the goal umpire will be on each goal line. The main goal is clear, to help the main referee when in doubt to make a decision about the ball that has crossed the goal line or not.

Iriawan said that he wanted to realize the presence of the goal referee as soon as possible. In addition to facilitating the performance of the main referee, the presence of the goal referee is also expected to give strong decisions.

“We will collect it in the near future because we have tools to buy. Where, whatever happens when the ball enters the goal, it can be directly connected to the middle referee," said Iriawan in a statement received by VOI on Friday, November 26.

Unmitigated, in order to get a quality goal referee Iriawan will bring him from Korea and Japan. Likewise with sophisticated equipment to support the performance of the referees.

"We will also bring in professional referees from Korea and Japan," he said.

Regarding the performance of several referees who were later considered controversial, Iwan Bule said that it was normal. Because the competition had stopped for quite a while due to Covid-19, so it was only natural that the referees and even the players felt stage fright.

"We haven't competed for more than 500 days, it's been a long time. So even the referees have stage fright, players do too. But until now we consider it a human error," he concluded.
