Bareskrim Summarizes Aceh-Medan-Jakarta Network, Seizes 224 Kilograms Of Marijuana
JAKARTA - The Directorate of Drug Crimes at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit foiled an attempt to smuggle 224.4 kilograms of marijuana. The smuggling was carried out by the Aceh, Medan and Jakarta networks.
"The evidence of marijuana as much as 224.4 kg which was taken using a Kijang Innova vehicle," said Deputy Director of Drug Crimes Kombes Jayadi to reporters, Friday, November 26.
In the disclosure of this network, four were arrested and made suspects. They have the initials SP (24), RN (21), IH (21), and SD (41). The four suspects have different roles.
"SP, RN and IH, as couriers were arrested in Palembang, South Sumatra. The remaining SD as controllers were arrested in Medan, North Sumatra," said Jayadi.
The disclosure of this network, continued Jayadi, began when there was information about the shipment of marijuana to Jakarta, on September 9. Where, it is stated that the shipment will come from Aceh and will be via land or eastern routes, East Sumatra.
"Investigators conducted an in-depth investigation, and then obtained updated information that marijuana-type narcotics had moved from Aceh to Jakarta," Jayadi said.
So that information is also explored. Until finally managed to catch three suspects who are couriers at the Palembang border. Then, investigators immediately explored the statements of the three couriers. As a result, they call the identity of the network controller.
"From Aceh then it developed, if this marijuana was controlled from North Sumatra, namely in Medan. Then arrested SD," said Jayadi.
Despite having arrested the smuggling controller, Jayadi said his party was still hunting for other perpetrators. They are couriers and controllers.
"The people we have developed in Aceh are still looking for our investigators. There are two DPOs in Aceh, if for example we get two Aceh DPOs, the threads will be connected," Jayadi said.
For now, the four suspects who have been arrested are suspected of being under Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 (1) of Law No. 25 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, subsidiary to Article 111 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 (1) of Law No. 35 the year 2009.
Thus, they face the death penalty or 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of IDR 10 billion.
