Overcoming Extreme Poverty, 46,818 Banyumas Residents Proposed To Get Assistance From The Government
PURWOKERTO - The Department of Social and Community and Village Empowerment of Banyumas Regency in Central Java Province, proposed that 46,818 poor people in Banyumas receive cash social assistance from the central government.
According to the Head of the Banyumas Regency Social and Community Empowerment and Village Office, Widarso, residents who are proposed to receive assistance from the government have been recorded and verified by village/kelurahan government officials.
"In the first stage there were 1,921 households and the second stage there were 12,003 households, bringing a total of 13,924 households with 46,818 people," he said in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, as reported by Antara, Friday, November 26.
According to him, data on residents who are proposed as recipients of cash assistance have been sent to the central government.
"The budget is from the center and the exact figures are still waiting. The information is that the disbursement of aid will be carried out in early December," he said.
He added, the value of the assistance to be given to each resident is estimated at Rp. 300,000 per month and will be distributed for two or three months.
"We are still waiting for technical instructions for the disbursement from the center, whether it will be directly transferred to the recipient's account or whether it will be distributed through the Post Office," said Widarso. In an effort to overcome the problem of extreme poverty, in 2021 the government will focus efforts to reduce poverty in each of the five districts in seven priority provinces including Central Java.
Poverty reduction efforts undertaken include the provision of additional cash social assistance for extreme poor households in five priority districts in each province.
According to information published on the official website of the State Secretariat on October 7, 2021, the number of extreme poor people in Central Java in 2021 totals 581,968 people, spread across Brebes, Pemalang, Banyumas, Kebumen, and Banjarnegara regencies.
