Luhut Visits Ngurah Rai Venue G20 Bali

BADUNG - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Bali Governor Wayan Koster inspected the mangrove forest in Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Badung Regency, Bali. This location will be the venue for the G20 Bali Summit in 2022.

Luhut said that the mangroves in Tahura Ngurah Rai have been planted for almost 27 years and have made a good contribution to carbon sequestration.

“This is a small part of the government's program of 600,000 hectares of mangrove restoration. Later the G20 President (Jokowi) will show during this year and next year. Maybe we are almost 200 thousand hectares doing restoration and most of it is funded by the state budget," said Luhut, Thursday, November 25.

"So the President wants to send a message, let's not just talk at these world summits. Because this program, funded with 1.2 billion dollars (US), approx. It looks like the World Bank will provide 400 million dollars in aid ," he added.

According to Luhut, currently many palm oil and smelter entrepreneurs are planting mangroves.

"Why? Because later they can claim the carbon. Now we are perfecting yesterday (meeting) with the Minister of finance, trade, OJK, KLHK HR and PLN regarding carbon pricing and carbon trading. Because Indonesia is one of the super powers in carbon trading," he said. he.

In addition, Luhut explained that the only venue to be exhibited at the Bali G20 Summit was Tahura Ngurah Rai. The governor of Bali, said Luhut, will make solar panels for electricity.

"This is the work of the Governor, I think earlier (about) our waste to reach the G20 clean energy and the Governor said that he would use solar panels for all electricity on the way. So, by doing so will reduce our emissions," he said.

The arrangement of the Ngurah Rai Tahura is targeted for completion in August 2022. All preparations, said Luhut, are going according to plan.
