Status Of Suspect In Student Harassment Case, Unri Party Has Not Deactivated Fisip Lecturer With The Initials SH

RIAU - The University of Riau (Unri) has not been able to deactivate SH from the position of Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences even though he already holds the status of a suspect in the case of student harassment.

The reason, according to the spokesman for the Fact Finding Team (TPF) Sujianto, refers to three government regulations. Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 concerning Discipline of Civil Servants, PP Number 11 of 2017 concerning Management of Civil Servants and Permenrisekdikti Number 81 of 2017 concerning the Statute of Unri.

In PP No. 94 Article 31 of 2021, it stipulates three categories of punishment, namely light sanctions, moderate sanctions and severe sanctions. Light sanctions are in the form of verbal and written warnings, light sanctions if they interfere with the system in the administrative environment, and severe sanctions if the violation has disrupted the whole and is crucial in nature.

"To determine what kind of sanctions are needed, a study is needed. We can't decide right away. Oh this is a heavy penalty. For that, it is necessary to carry out an investigation," said Sujianto, who is also the Vice Chancellor for General Affairs and Finance at the University of Riau in Pekanbaru, Antara, Wednesday, November 24.

Sujianto added, still based on Article 81 of the 2017 PP, civil servants can be temporarily suspended if detained, so that the Chancellor can make decisions regarding the status of SH.

"So we are very careful because this regulation has been disclosed in such a way. We cannot dismiss or transfer arbitrarily. It must comply with the regulations.

Currently, Riau Police investigators have named SH as a suspect in the alleged harassment of a student he was mentoring in October 2021 in the Dean's room of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Riau University.
