Sunter River Flow Filled With Mud And Water Hyacinth, One Of The Causes Of Floods In The Cipinang Melayu Area
JAKARTA - The Sunter River which is filled with water hyacinth plants in the Cipinang Melayu area, Makasar District, East Jakarta, has begun to be cleaned by joint officers. The cleaning of the Sunter River flow was carried out manually as an effort to anticipate flooding in the rainy season. Because, when the rainy season arrives and there is water delivery, the Sunter River often overflows.
The cleaning was carried out by a joint UPK officer from the Water Agency, the Environment Service and PPSU, Cipinang Melayu Village. One heavy excavator was deployed to carry out the transportation.
The village head of Kampung Melayu Aroyantoro said that the cleaning of mud and water hyacinth plants in Sunter River would take place in the next few days. Cleaning today is not enough due to lack of human resources (HR) and long times.
"The activity was carried out with the Water Agency UPK, PPSU and residents. Today we are doing it in RW 10 and 12," he told reporters, Wednesday, November 24.
A total of 30 officers were deployed to clean the location in two RW locations. The cleaning this time is in anticipation of flooding that often occurs.
"From the evaluation results, a lot of mud and water hyacinth clog the flow of water, this is what we clean," he said.
The village head assessed that his area was prone to flooding after the water in the river often overflowed and overflowed into residential areas.
"Lastly, the flood was up to 1 meter due to overflowing water. This is an anticipation, hopefully there won't be another flood in our area," he said.
