PLN Continues Cooperation With ABB For Provision Of Miniature Circuit Breakers
JAKARTA - PLN has re-signed a cooperation contract with ABB in the supply of miniature circuit breakers (MCB/Miniature Circuit Breakers) for the next two years. To meet this demand target, ABB has doubled its production capacity at its MCB plant in Cibitung, West Java.
Over the last two decades, ABB has a proven track record as a supplier of MCB to PLN with good quality and high production capacity. The ABB team continues to maintain good relations with PLN, understand their needs, and demonstrate that ABB has sufficient production capacity to produce MCB of the highest quality and of course at competitive prices.
According to a World Economic Forum survey in November 2020, there was around 91.7 percent of companies in Indonesia implemented a work from the home policy during the pandemic, which made the need for a safe and reliable electricity supply a vital necessity.
MCB from ABB plays an important role in providing protection for homes and electrical devices from the risk of danger due to electrical voltage surges. In addition, the ABB MCB also protects the electrical installation system from using electricity that exceeds the maximum power and short circuits in commercial buildings and various other industrial applications. When this happens, the MCB will cut off the electric current automatically to protect electrical devices from damage and the risk of fire.
"ABB is committed and proud to continue collaborating with PLN for the supply of good quality and locally produced MCB, in line with PLN's efforts to continue to meet the increasing needs of customers and the electrification process in Indonesia," said Head of Electrification, ABB in Indonesia, Jorge Aguinaga in a written statement, quoted Wednesday, November 24.
ABB is a pioneer in the development of MCB. In Indonesia, ABB's MCB has received the SNI certificate, the Indonesian National Standard, which certifies the safety, quality, and performance of electrical equipment. MCB ABB also offers domestic content levels that are higher than the requirements set by the government.
Last year, ABB's MCB factory in Cibitung had an annual production capacity of millions of polishes for both the type of MCB supplied to PLN and for export to the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and New Zealand.
The factory is also equipped with a sophisticated automation system for the assembly process and product testing. Employees at this factory also follow strict health protocols, including social distancing, wearing medical masks and checking body temperature.
