Makassar City Government Extends PPKM Until December 6
MAKASSAR - The Makassar City Government, South Sulawesi, has finally extended the rules for the Implementation of Level 2 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) for two weeks from November 23 to December 6, 2021.
"It was extended in accordance with the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs regarding PPKM, dated November 22, 2021, for level 1, level 2 and 3," said Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 23.
The extension of the PPKM is in line with the Circular of the Mayor of Makassar Number: 443.01/615/S.Edar/Kesbangpol/XI/2021 dated November 23, 2021. This is related to restrictions on community activities until 21.00 WITA.
However, the mayor of Makassar, who is familiarly called Danny Pomanto, stated that the extension of the regulation in preparation for PPKM Level 3 is planned to take effect on December 24, 2021 to January 2, 2021 throughout Indonesia during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
"Patience, yes, I have asked a lot of people how this is going. We'll just have to wait for the new rules," Danny said.
The mayor of Makassar for these two periods said that several priests had asked how it would be during the Christmas celebrations, considering that restrictions were still being imposed for two years.
Danny Pomanto emphasized that the purpose of the restrictions was for public safety and health in order to avoid the third wave of COVID-19.
However, for the implementation of the Christmas Mass, he said, there were exceptions. Although Christmas and New Year celebration activities have the potential to be tightened again to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
"What I hear is that it's okay for worship, I just don't think it's made for a crowd, just stick to health protocols," said Danny Pomanto.
