BMKG Forecast: East Kalimantan Heavy Rain With Lightning Tomorrow

BALIKPAPAN - A number of areas in East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim) on Wednesday-Thursday at 08.00 - 08.00 WITA are predicted to experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning. Residents are advised to be aware of the possible effects.

"In areas where heavy rains and thunderstorms are forecast, such as West Kutai and Berau regencies," said Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (SAMS) Sepinggan Balikpapan Meteorological Station Class I forecaster Diyan Novrida in Balikpapan, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 23.

The details are that on Wednesday at 08.00 WITA heavy rain and rain accompanied by lightning occurred in Linggang Bigung and Long Iram Districts. At 14 in Damai District, and at 17.00 heavy rain and rain accompanied by lightning occurred in 12 sub-districts in West Kutai.

Details of the 12 sub-districts are that heavy rains occurred in 7 sub-districts, namely Sendawar, Melak, Barong Tongkok, Mook Manaar Bulatn, Nyuatan, Sekolaq Darat, and Tering. Then rain accompanied by lightning in 5 sub-districts, namely Muara Pahu, Jempang, Muara Lawa, Peninggahan, and Damai District.

For Berau Regency, he continued, heavy rains are predicted to occur on Wednesday at 08.00 WITA in three sub-districts, namely Tabalar, Biatan, and Talisayan Districts.

Then rain accompanied by lightning occurred at 11.00 WITA in Tanjung Redeb District, Derawan Island, Mount Tabur, Sambaliung, and Teluk Bayur. At 14.00 it rained lightning in Kelay and Segah Districts.

He continued that in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, thunderstorms are predicted to occur on Wednesday, at 08.00 WIB in Sebulu District, Tabang, Bangun City, Muara Kaman. At 11.00 it happened in Tenggarong Seberang District.

At 14.00 it rained lightning in the Districts of Tenggarong, Tabang, Loa Kulu, Sanga-Sanga. At 17.00 in Muara Muntai, Kenohan, and Muara Wis Districts.

"At 8:00 p.m. thunderstorms are predicted to occur in Tenggarong, Sebulu, Kota Bangun, Loa Kulu and Muara Kaman sub-districts. Temperatures range from 23-30 degrees Celsius with wind speeds of around 10 km per hour," said Diyan.
