Joint SAR Team Rescues Victims Buried In Sukabumi Landslide
SUKABUMI - The joint SAR team managed to save the lives of residents of Kampung Nyalindung, Sukabumi Regency, West Java who were buried under the rubble of houses destroyed by landslides.
"Thank God, thanks to the cooperation of the SAR team assisted by residents, the victim, known as Ahmad, was rescued after being buried under the rubble of his house which was destroyed by a landslide," said Head of the Emergency Section of the Sukabumi Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Medi Abdul Hakim, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 23.
Based on observations at the location, the evacuation of victims of the landslide disaster in Pasirsuren Village, Palabuhanratu District was dramatic, where the condition of the victim whose body was squeezed by chunks of building debris had to endure for a while until the debris was finally removed.
In addition, the victim's position at that time was on a cliff because his house was carried away by the landslide, even the SAR team that provided assistance and evacuated the victim had to always be vigilant because it was feared that another landslide would occur.
One by one the rubble of the building that had been mixed with mud was removed from the victim's body, finally the SAR team managed to remove the crumbling wall that was clamping Ahmad's legs so that the victim escaped death and was immediately rushed to Palabuhanratu Hospital for treatment.
"The evacuation process took two hours, it was difficult to lift the stone because it hit both of his feet slowly with makeshift tools, the SAR team was finally able to evacuate the victim," added Medi.
Meanwhile, Public Relations of the Palabuhanratu Bili Agustian Hospital said the injuries suffered by the victim were quite severe, such as a 20 cm tear on the head and a torn left calf. However, the victim's condition when he arrived at the hospital and underwent treatment was conscious.
"The victim's injuries have been treated by medical personnel and given treatment. His condition is gradually improving, he just needs rest," he said.
